Est. 1962 · Attra Farms
Three generations of stewardship, tradition, and a deep love for the earth — woven into every acre of our farm in the foothills of Maharashtra.
— Our Heritage Story —
Nestled in the hilly borders of Raigad in the foothills of Maharashtra, Attra’s has been a living, breathing story since 1962. What began as a modest family farmstead has grown into a sanctuary where guests connect with nature, tradition, and the honest rhythms of rural life.
The same soil that fed our great-grandparents now nourishes our guests — and with every season, the story grows a little richer.
Our Journey Through Time
The history of Attra Farms is a multi-generational story of a private sanctuary evolving into a premier nature retreat.
The story began in 1980 when the property was acquired by Surendra Singh Attra. For nearly three decades, it served as a private agricultural estate and a cherished family getaway. As the family grew, so did the infrastructure; Surendra Singh personally oversaw the expansion of the property, planting hundreds of mango and coconut trees and building the original rooms, villas, and animal sheds that established the farm’s rustic character.
In 2008, the second generation took the helm. Surendra Singh’s sons assumed management, transitioning the private estate into a farm-lodging venue. During this phase, the property opened its doors to a wider circle of friends and extended family, gaining a reputation for its authentic "countryside" hospitality and focus on simple, nature-based living.
Today, the grandsons of Surendra Singh Attra lead the property into its third generation. While staying true to the core identity of a nature retreat, they have scaled the vision to meet modern demands. The focus has expanded to include:
"The land has memory. Every tree, every stone, every season — they all hold the story of who we are and who we'll become."
We don't own the land — we borrow it from the next generation. Every decision honours that responsibility and the natural world around us.
Our farm employs local families, sources from nearby producers, and celebrates the rich culture and traditions of the Raigad district.
No performance, no pretence. Just honest food, honest work, and honest conversations around the fire at the end of the day.
